Edo State Ministry Of Information and Communication

The Edo State Ministry of Communication and Orientation serves as the primary link between the government, its citizens, and the world. Through strategic communication initiatives, we aim to inform, engage, and empower the people of Edo State.

Vision

To be effective in communication between the Government and the people in an atmosphere of freedom, objectivity, equality and justice.

Mission

To provide Edo State with efficient public tool with in-built feedback mechanism supported by a comprehensive ICT and management system.

Our Objectives

 To enhance public awareness and understanding of government policies, programs, and initiatives.

To promote the values of transparency, accountability, and good governance.

To harness the power of communication technology for the socio-economic advancement of Edo State.

To bridge the communication gap between the government and the people, fostering trust and collaboration.

What We Do

Public Awareness Campaigns: We design and execute communication campaigns to raise awareness about key issues and government initiatives.

Media Relations: We maintain positive relationships with the media to ensure accurate and timely coverage of government activities.

Digital Engagement: We leverage digital platforms to engage with citizens, collect feedback, and provide information.

Content Creation: We produce multimedia content, including videos, articles, and infographics, to effectively communicate government messages.

Capacity Building: We provide training and support to government officials and stakeholders on effective communication practices.

Responsibilities

As the custodian of communication affairs in Edo State, we are tasked with:

  • Developing and implementing communication strategies and campaigns.
  • Managing the state's public relations and media relations activities.
  • Providing communication support to government agencies and departments.
  • Conducting research and analysis to gauge public opinion and sentiment.
  • Promoting the state's culture, heritage, and tourism potential.

Mandate

  • To disseminate government policies, programmes and activities to the public
  • To serve as an information bridge between the Government and the people and to provide feedback from the people to the government
  • To re-orientate the public about government policies, programmes and societal values and norms.
