Ministry of Information and Communication set to partner with CONGOs

‎The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, has disclosed the plans of the Ministry to collaborate with the Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations (CONGOs) in the propagation of the activities of Edo State Government.

‎Hon. Ohonbamu who made this disclosure while hosting them at the Ministry’s premises in Benin City, explained that the partnership aims to foster transparency and awareness among citizens, adding that Governor Monday Okpebholo is an intelligent Man with integrity to pilot the affairs of the State. ‎

The Commissioner said that, since Governor Monday Okpebholo took office in November 2024, Edo State has experienced a significant reduction in violence and insecurity, attributing this peace to the Governor’s decisive action against kidnappers, cultists and other related issues, warning that anyone involved in violent behavior, including physical fights or gun violence and other serious crimes, will be dealt with according to the Law.

Hon. Ohonbamu asserted that the Education Sector had been revamped, as the subvention of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma had been increased from forty one million Naira to five hundred million Naira, explaining that the State Government was one that places premium on education, hence its move towards the accreditation of several courses in the State Polytechnic and the induction of Medical Graduates who could not be inducted earlier, for lack of accreditation in the past administration.

‎Earlier, the President, Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations (CONGOs), Comrade Dr. Bartholomew Okoudo, congratulated the Commissioner on his appointment, noting that the Ministry is now fulfilling its core role of promoting Edo State Government’s activities. He added that there’s now effective communication between Edo Citizens and the Government, with messages being delivered and feedback received.

‎Dr. Okoudo further commended Governor Monday Okpebholo’s efforts, highlighting the visible progress in education, road infrastructure, security and health as malaria treatment is now free at all Government Hospitals. He expressed appreciation for the Governor’s initiatives and announced that CONGOs would collaborate with the Ministry to share the Government’s achievements with various communities across the State.
